The Health Perks of Being a Vegetarian

The Top Four Reasons
By Antonio Washington, Lifestyle
Hello chico’s and chica’s of Mount Olive College. Welcome to another exciting article about the lifestyle and world of a vegetarian. Now, in the first article, I had briefly touched on the health benefits of a vegetarian. Today, I’m going to go further in on this topic and hopefully give you the basis of how vegetarians get their vitamins, minerals, etc. If you folks have ever noticed, vegetarians tend to have a slimmer and leaner body frame as opposed to those who consume mostly meat in their diets. Why do you ask? Because of the high level of saturated fats that are present in most meats. Vegetables do not have any of that extra cholesterol. Also, the latter contains most of your necessary nutrients for our body including, vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein, and omega 3 fatty acids. I have boiled down below a few of the prominent benefits of a vegetarian diet.

Benefits of a vegetarian diet: The Top Four!!

1) Lesser Digestive Problems

The increase of your fiber intake helps your body regulate the process of your digestive system and reduces the chances of suffering from bowel diseases, appendicitis, and other fun digestive tract problems.

2) Say goodbye to Heart Disease!

The presence of fat and cholesterol contained in meat contributes the cause of heart disease. The higher levels of cholesterol present in your blood stream, the greater the risk of heart disease.

3) Lesser chance of being obese

Vegetarians were shown to be at least 20% slimmer compared to those who consumed mostly meats in their diet. This is because of the low fat diets that vegetarians follow. Plant food sources also contain an abundance of fiber that effectively dilutes calories in your meals, thus making it healthier.

4) Longetvity..Priceless

The biggest and most important benefit that you can get from following a vegetarian diet is the lengthening of your life expectancy. Studies reveal that vegetarians live longer than those who are not vegetarians. How much longer? Approximately 4 to 10 years longer, almost an entire decade.

By giving your body a more complete and balances diet, you can maintain a more disease free body. Good health is a major contributor to ensue that vegetarians live longer and disease free.
