On Wednesday, April 15, 2009, Mount Olive College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted the Fourth Annual Womanless Beauty Pageant. The Womanless Pageant consists of male student-athletes who display their talents dressed as women. The categories for the pageant include, evening wear/ interview, sleep wear, active wear and casual wear.

The “women” put on a fantastic show for the crowd and had everybody in the audience rolling with laughter. Some of the entertainment provided by the contestants for their talent included a piano solo and ribbon dancing. Other students/ faculty joined in on the entertainment. SAAC danced the “Thriller” dance, by Michael Jackson, Jeff Eisen danced in his boxers and two groups of students preformed original choreographed pieces.

Not only is the pageant a source of entertainment for the student body, but it also is a fundraiser for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. This foundation seeks to “grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.” The NCAA Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has been doing this national fundraiser for five years.

Santiago Rodriguez was crowned the 2009 Womanless Beauty Pageant winner. He received $100 in cash and goodie bag full of a variety of prizes. The other contestants received various gifts and prizes donated by local businesses. All contestants received the satisfaction of knowing they made a child’s wish come true!
