Making the Art Connection

Over 50 high school art students from Wayne and Duplin Counties visited the Mount Olive College Department of Art and Visual Communication on Wednesday.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our students to see what is available to them right here in Wayne County,” stated Rebecca Davis, an art teacher at Southern Wayne High School. “To see art taken to another level, will certainly enhance our studies in the classroom.”

Art students from Southern Wayne High School, Wallace Rose Hill High School and James Kenan High School toured the MOC campus, sat in on a portfolio course and strolled through the Teresa Pelt Grubbs Art Gallery which currently houses the 2009 Student Show.

“MOC is very welcoming,” stated Dylan Atwood, a 10th grader at Southern Wayne High School. “From my experience today, the faculty really take an individual approach with students. I had not considered attending MOC before, but will certainly consider it now.”
