Do you sing, dance, recite poetry or just like to listen? If so, come down to the Madd Hatters Open Night Mic! Last month, several MOC students showcased a variety of talents at the event planned to provide students with an arena for free expression.

Keith Woodard got the night started with an amazing performance of Staind’s “Outside” and was followed by free styling from Aaron Washington. Michael Quintas recited some of his original poetry covering topics such as useless classes, food, and Frank the Amoeba.

Katie Dupree, Eric Williams, Ashlea Quinn and Adam Brown entertained audience members with their musical talents. Christopher Matthews ended the night with a beat box performance with melodies from Super Mario Brothers, Inspector Gadget, Michael Jackson and Gucci Man.

Open Night Mic is the brainchild of Michael Quintas, a senior at Mount Olive College. Keith Woodard helps with setting up and booking performances.

“The Idea came to me from the practice of Pecha Kucha and while Open Mic Night doesn't follow Pecha Kucha exactly, we integrate more activities,” Quintas stated.
