The Mount Olive College Collegiate FFA organization held a BBQ chicken fundraiser on Saturday, March 21 on the MOC campus. According to Joshua Singleton, CFFA treasurer and chief cook, the event was successful in raising funds for the Club to travel to the National FFA Convention and other events.
Businesses and individuals such as Case Farms donated or provided food products to the project at a very minimal cost. MOC graduate Andrea Sanderson, as well as, MOC Adjunct Professor Chris Stewart also donated items and their time to ensure the success of the effort.
“The community really supported us in the effort and we wanted to be sure that we gave back as well,” stated Eric Godwin, chairman of the CFFA fundraising committee.
In giving back to the community the MOC FFA Chapter donated all of the unsold plates to the Potters Wheel Ministries in Mount Olive, a long-term rehabilitation program for men and women battling drug and alcohol abuse.
“The ministry feeds over 5000 meals a month to folks in the program,” stated Ed Olive CFFA member, “We were just glad to be able to help meet this need.”
“CFFA is a leadership organization and is open to all MOC students,” stated Dr. Sandy Maddox, CFFA advisor, “I am pleased that CFFA continues to look for ways to maximize their efforts in the community.”
