Colleges such as Campbell University had booths for their graduate school. Some non-profit organizations included Self Help, Public Allies of North Carolina and the Peace Corps. Most of the non-profits were recruiting for internship positions, but many of the jobs presented more positions that are permanent. These opportunities consisted of entry-level jobs with the ability to move up within the organization. The jobs presented at the fair represented several industries such as medicine, retail, education, banking, and criminal justice.
With the current recession, the job market looks frightening to graduating college students. The ENCCA helped current students realize opportunities still exist for employment. Richard Cassidy, a Mount Olive College student graduating in May with an English communications degree and music minor stated, “Before attending the career fair, I was really uneasy about graduating when the economy was so unstable. However, attending the career fair gave me a little more confidence that I will find a job either before or soon after graduation.”Career fair such as this one can provide students with relief and prepare an individual for the interviewing process. If you missed this one, Mount Olive College will host a career fair on campus in March. Look for updates on the campus website or contact the Teaching and Learning Center for more information.
